Walmart Vs The World!

WalmartDang it Walmart you want to be worse than Microsoft and Megan Fox together and still even if people accepts you they don’t want to go to any of your stores, beside of the rudeness of the employees and the impossibility of finding the products in the store now Walmart launch another war against Amazon and Target in pre-order DVDs that made the two competitors to scramble their prices to even match with Walmart.

What a shame Walmart, whose next the world? Za Warudo! One of the fights came with the new Star Trek movie where Walmart reduced the price so much that technically is free to get it, hey I will be going tomorrow or maybe later to buy it!.

Swine Flu and Media Paranoia

CnnOne thing that in Communication is spoken is the theory of the Hypodermic Needle or as is known the magic bullet theory where the message given is not going to be interpreted by the people completly, but rather they will act according to the background of the message. CNN or FOX News, two channels that have a 24 hours news loop, where after certain time at the day they will start repeating the same news, thus by consequence the same gorey images or images showing no hope with certain matters; or the horror the victims had to live (9-11) will create an effect of paranoia in the viewers as there are no complete regulations on what is shown on tv beyond the yellow journalism to boost rating in one way or another because t the end the only thing that matter is rating. I say that channels like CNN or FOX News they must regulate the “strong” notes with more simple notes or happy notes as I like to call them, because 60% of the public will be affected psychological by the “strong” notes; think about the swine flu, yes is a big problem but media is exposing the problem into something greater, I don’t think by the connotation of their reports they are trying to show the tragedy but rather a way to boost ratings. What do you think?

INVERTED RACISM: THE RANDY “YO-YO MAN DOG” PARADOX

Ok, I was watching the Image Awards and there was something that catch my attention and it was that I only saw a couple of “white” individuals including Randy “The Yo-yo dog man” Jackson and Dakota Fanning who were there to “receive” and give some award, but for the rest I didn’t saw any; so what catch my attention is that the African American community have 3 award ceremony that technically Hispanic or White can’t win but African can win in the Oscars or the Emmy and even the Grammys (but who don’t win at the Grammys?). So at the end why African complaint so much if they have 3 award ceremonies. I can even dare to say that those African Awards ceremonies are more racist than the Oscars.

Some Comparisons of American Humor and Colombian Humor through the eyes of a Colombian Guy

Published by glequericac under Culture, Television Edit This

I always find one aspect of the human kind that is fascinating is sense of humor; it can be so varied but yet appealing to people worldwide. I.e. Anime can be funny and appealing to many viewers because the visual gags are so easy to understand even if you are watching and un-translated version of your favorite show, American sitcoms or comedies such as the Simpsons can be quite funny even with the translations or the Chapelle Show that is quite a blast but only if you have a basic knowledge of English and American culture, I have to say is one of my favorite shows ever, so funny that I can even dare to say in the name of Dave Chapelle fans, that Dave you need to go back to comedy, you are such a genius for comedy.

Colombian television and humor is a little different from the American, humor is less from observance of culture, but it rather go with observation of daily living according to the different regions, so far the most known form of humor is the humor from Bogota that consists in two kind of jokes, lazy stereotypes gags that can be seen in television shows such as Sabados Felices (a rip off of SNL) or really dirty jokes that can said over here due the censorship.

We can’t compare of what humor is the best as the cultural incidents varies drastically, but American humor has more impact worldwide than Colombian humor as it has been propagated trough television, but Colombian humor… well, not humor but rather drama had some impact as well in TV as many Colombian shows had been adapted in different markets, just to name a case “Ugly Betty” or Betty la Fea.
